Finishing Strong!

HELLO EVERYBODY!
I don't really know how to start this post so I'm just going to jump right in haha. Project has been going awesome! I can't believe it is almost over :( Things are slowly rolling to a close in a lot of different ways. One huge thing is that this is my last week of work. It's very bittersweet to be done at Chick fil-A. My experience working there has been AMAZING, some may even say extraordinary :) haha. I will never forget my time there, that is for sure!
Some other exciting/fun stuff that is going on... OUTREACH! Outreach has been going very well and we actually have one last hurrah coming up this Sunday. We are going to throw a big event on the beach and have hot dogs and play all sorts of games! It is going to be a blast! It's a bit stressful with all the planning but I'm still very excited. The outreach event is what will keep me this busiest from now until the end of project. BUT we will continue with Bible Studies and weekly meetings :) I'm really looking forward to all the hanging out with new friends for the last time in our final week as well. I'll post one final post next week to let you all know some of the high points from the summer and I'll post more pictures!! Love you all.

Dwindling Down..

Hello Blog Followers!
Hope you are all doing so well :) Sorry I haven't been super great about posting on here every week, but if you could see how busy we are I'm sure you would all understand haha. ANYWAYS, I would love to update all of you on the cool stuff that has been going on here at NMB. My last post was at the halfway point and the staff were about to leave us. I dreaded the day that the staff were to leave.. BUT it really has been so good! We became a student lead project and it has been so cool to see all of the leaders stepping in to their roles and seeing EVERY SINGLE student stepping up one way or another. Truth is, we're all needed as leaders here now that staff is gone and whether or not someone has an "official" title, we are all needed! So to see everyone stepping up and leading has been amazing for me to see.
Over the last few weeks God has really been teaching me about being a humble follower as well as a Godly leader. I was really excited to be taking on the position of Outreach Leader when staff left! But there was one problem.. I was too concerned about what I could do to make people go outreaching and if people didn't want to go or if God "wasn't doing anything", I felt like it was my fault. This was such a big lie and until last week when I was able to realize it Outreach was more of a stress than a joy. HOWEVER, since having the realization that I was leading for the wrong reasons, I have been able to turn to God and He has been using me and doing what He needs through me and it has been GREAT! Outreach is much more of a joy than a task and my eyes are finally open to see what God is doing here at NMB.
Some other fun stuff that has been going on... I have gotten to be really good friends with a girl named Kelsey and she is truly a blessing! Kelsey pushes me to seek Christ in everything I do and she has helped me to get in the flow of a quiet time every morning. It's really cool to hang out and study the Bible and journal and just hang out! She's super cool :)
I've also been hitting the beach a little bit more again! YAY!!! I have vowed that in the next three weeks that I am here, one of the days, I WILL go to the beach in the morning after breakfast and I won't leave until supper time! Wish me luck blog followers haha.
Well I think that is it for now.. Hopefully I'll get another post up by this time next week. I'll leave you with a verse tonight.
"For the Son of Man did not come to this Earth to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many." - Mark 10:45

The halfway mark.

Hey everyone!
What an event couple weeks it has been :) I hope you are as eager to read this as I am to write it!
Let's jump in right away... First, community week! It was a really good but also really challenging week. As a project we really had to be in community with each other. Why, you may ask.. Well the staff were giving away clues all week to one person. Once the person got a clue they had spread the word to EVERY BODY else on project. Oh, and they weren't allowed to use text OR social media. The staff would always be saying, "When one knows everybody knows!". Not going to lie I got pretty sick of it haha. But in the end it turned out to be really good for us as a project. On Saturday night all the clues had led us to a softball game! Students vs. Staff. It was so much fun and all the clues finally came together and it was cool to see how our project had joined together as one. Turned out to be a really great week!
Then this past week was "World Visions Week". I think world vision week will have been my favorite week here on project! :) It breaks my heart knowing/learning about all the hardships people go through around the world. It was a really eye opening week and I'm really grateful for all that I was able to learn and take in. I'd love to travel to other countries and share what God has given me here. :)
ANYWAYS... this week is the final week that the staff are here.. it's really, really bittersweet. I have grown very close to many of them and I truly look up to them. I can't imagine project without them really! BUT in the midst of all the sadness with them leaving, there is huge excitement.. again you may ask why? WELL let me tell you! haha. As staff leave, we as students take over the project. Some students are put in to formal leadership positions but we are all challenged to really step up and become leaders. With staff leaving we as students really have to take ownership of our project, it truly becomes our own! I'm really excited, annnnnnd, I will be stepping in to the position of co-leader of the Outreach/Evangelism team! :) You guys, I am so excited/nervous!! I feel blessed to have gotten this position and I truly have the best team to work with! It'll be a great growth area as I head back to school  in the fall. YAY!
So that's a little recap of what we've been doing here on project formally.. but I'd love to share some more just fun and silly stuff we've been doing! Well on Fridays we have the night off here and this past Friday we all went to the movie Brave. Oh it was so good! I recommend it for people of all ages (It's a disney/pixar film so it's good to go). I've also been hitting the beach when I get the chance because how could I not?? haha. I also spend some AMAZING quality time with my roommates on a nightly basis. Shout out to my roommates: Raechel, Angie, Autumn, and Heather! :) I have been so blessed with them. They put up with all my wacky, crazy, messiness haha. They are amazing girls and I can't imagine what it will be like to say goodbye to them in August (so I won't) haha! Yah, everyone, it's really just been one of the most amazing summers so far. Like I mentioned in the title it's the halfway mark. I don't say this out of disappointment or regret either.. We still have 5 more weeks here in NMB to build relationships and love on people and for me, eat Chick Fil-A haha!
Love you all and I really miss you too.
-Setareh
p.s. Mom and Dad (because I know you read this)... I love you so much! Thanks for giving me up for the summer so that I can grow in my faith. I know this is where I need to be and I know you know this too. I couldn't have gotten a better set of parents (and I mean that)!! You may think it odd that I'm saying this on the blog but I just want to rest of the world to know how awesome you are :) Love you guys to infinity and beyond! YAY

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Hello All!
I would like to start this post by apologizing that it has been so super long since I last wrote. Life here at North Myrtle Beach has been beyond busy and I LOVE IT :) So, since I haven't written in forever it means I have a lot to update you all about. The last time I wrote it was the day I got a job which was at least two weeks ago! Since that post I have actually started working at Chick Fil-A and let me tell you.. I LOVE IT! Chick Fil-A is a fast food restaurant  that is known for outstanding chicken and extraordinary service. I have now been there for nearly two weeks and every shift is a new challenge. Today I worked the drive thru window from 8-4 and we had a rush going from 9-4! It was CRAZY :) But overall I really love working there. The ownership, management, and employee team are great and I love being able to be myself at work!
However, work is only a small part of my life right now. The project has been go, go, go and busy, busy these last couple weeks! I'll re-cap two weeks ago first... Our theme for the week was "Thirsty?" and we talked a lot about where we fill our thirsts. A few areas that I found myself going to "quench my thirst" were: Facebook, other people, and busyness. However, throughout the week, I really got to dig in to the Lord's word that week and in the verse John 7:37-38 (Jesus speaking, "Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them"). The verse really hit home in my heart and I started praying more intentionally and readying the word more excitedly. I started to feel myself become satisfied and God held true to his promise in John that all I had to do was ask and go to Christ when I was "thirsty" and He would quench my thirst. The week ended with a really fun Saturday night project scavenger hunt, where my partner and I tied for first with two other proejcters! :)
That brings me to this past week.. Last weeks theme was "Killing the Giants". I think I can say pretty confidently that this past week will have been one of the hardest weeks here on project but also one of the most rewarding and uplifting. Killing the Giants was taken from the story of David and Goliath, in 1Samuel 17. In the story, David, a small Israelite boy takes on a giant named Goliath with just a sling and some stones. David is able to defeat Goliath because he is able to trust God. God was with the Israelites the whole time but wouldn't just defeat Goliath, He wanted them to recognize that He was there and would help them concur the Giant. So, naturally during our Killing the Giants week we were supposed to take notice to some of the "giants" in our lives and we were going to defeat them. IT WAS INTENSE. I found a lot of growth over the week and was able to kill a few giants (still working on a few others though haha). Another big thing for the week was outreach. Outreach is a huge part of project already because we are here with a purpose, which is to spread the Gospel to people who haven't heard it yet. As a project we set some "goals" or rather challenges for ourselves and as an outreach team (I am on the outreach team) we really challenged students to go sharing at any free point they had. A big question for the week was, "What would it look like if for one week we went sharing and reached out in every free moment we had?" and "How would God show up if we did this?". It was really fun to challenge the other students but it was also really hard because it was a challenge for myself as well. This was definitely one of my giants. I struggled with going out after work because I was "too tired" or "I went out yesterday, so today I would rest". It was really hard but by the end of the week God had taken control of my heart and things started getting easier and I trusted more! It was really cool seeing other students kill their giants as well. One of the coolest things happened on Saturday of Killing the Giants week... We had the opportunity to take down a literal giant that was built by some members of the outreach ream. The giant stood at over 15 feet tall and stood in our common area all week taunting us! And the big clincher was that we would only get to take down the giant if we met our challenge for the week. Because the challenge was set by us students it was really important that we took faith in God and got to work for Him. So I bet you are all wondering if we got to kill the giant..... and the answer is... YAH BABY!!!! We took the giant down BIG TIME! :) It was an amazing feeling to know that we were all starting to trust the Lord more and more to do big things each day. Overall, it was an unbelievable week!
And now it is Tuesday. Today has been a great day and this week is going to be a big one, I can just feel it :) Our theme for the week is "All in the Together". I'm really excited!! I don't really know what to expect, except that we are focusing on the importance of staying together as a community and as a project. I'll update again on Sunday or Monday to let you all know how it goes!
Also, I would love to hear from all of you.. so if you have any questions or comments feel free to leave a comment on here OR hit up my e-mail (setareh.mostofi@my.und.edu).
Love from NMB,
Setareh :)
p.s. Be ready for some pictures next post!

Working Girl :)

HEY EVERYONE!
So guess what... I GOT A JOB! I am now an employee at Chick Fil-A :) Chick Fil-a is a fast food restaurant that is very abundant here in the south. If you haven't had a chance to eat there I recommend you all get in the car and head on down here and grab a bite to eat while I serve you, haha. I am going to learn so much while being an employee there this summer. At my interview the owner stressed how important the costumer is to us and how important it will be to make everyones experience EXTRAORDINARY. I love it!
We have also been hard at work learning new things in the Bible. Throughout the summer we are going through the book of Mark. I am really excited and I hope you are all excited too because I will be posting all about it! OH, and we've already had to opportunity to hit the beach and share with people! Because my faith is so important to me, I am glad I can go share that with others. It's very laid back when we go out sharing and I got to meet some really cool people and have really cool conversations!
Please continue praying for me as I journey on through the summer. I really appreciate it! :)
Smiles, Setareh

So close :)

Hey everyone!
The project officially starts tomorrow and I am getting very excited! I will try to post a new blog every week so you can all follow what is going on. :) Please be praying for me and everyone else who is here! I can't wait to see what God has planned for the summer. Have a fun and safe summer!
